“ The country where it was always now”
HD video – 11.16 minutes
This woman follows a secular tradition to accompany funerals with her complaint songs: she is a professional singer/mourner.
But this time, alone and scrutinized by the camera in the olive tree hills, she was to cry her own grief in front of our mute and distant eyes.
You shall never enter the little room at the end of the great ground floor corridor.
HD video –three screen installation- 23 minutes – 2013
This three-screen installation won the Aanmoedigingsprijs 2013 of Stroom Den Haag, a film installation very loosely based on Perrault’s XVII th century’s fairy tale Barbe Bleue; in which the viewer is invited to enter a web of symbolic and archetypal situations and encounter characters who seem trapped in a mythical play of existence and whose only salvation may exist in the distant viewer’s mind and imagination. Filmed in post-communistic
Albania, the seemingly broken narratives are emphasized and echoed by the current situation of the country.
